This series first manifested itself as throw away ideas for a design assignment at work. They were completed everywhere but the studio: at work during lunch breaks, in tiny cold apartments, on crashed couches and in airport waiting rooms. There was no opportunity for my usual process of observation, composing, then painting - and yet, at my disposal there was more than enough tools and resources to make art. After a quick sketch I would paste images together much like how a beatsmith would select sound samples. These pieces, in both subject matter and medium, speak out against the perceived notion that a pre-digital world was a more authentic one than the world we live in today.
